Books and sock yarn

This week I've received two books by mail. First one that arrived was "Herkulliset huopatyöt" ("Heartfelt" in US, "Easy Felted Accessories" in UK) by Teresa Sealer. It's very colourful book and there are couple of nice ideas I might try out some day. The other one is a book I have been thinking of buying for a while, it's called "Neuleita kullannupulle" ("Simple Knits for Cherished Babies") by Erika Knight. I needed some knitting patterns for baby stuff and this one has loads.

I went to look for some yarn for a knitted jacket I found from Garnstudio's site. I am trying to find something to replace the Alaska yarn since I don't want to order online but it seems that I just can't find yarn that is same thickness and also right red in colour. But I did buy spool of Step Sock Yarn by Austermann. :)

Pink scissors!

My husband promised to buy me new scissors a while ago. Today he bought me this lovely pink set by Fiskars. This set is part of a Pink Ribbon campaign by Cancer Foundation and Fiskars donates 10% of every sold set to Pink Ribbon fund. And the scissors are pink and so pretty. :)

Birthday Club

I almost missed the Stitching Bloggers Birthday Club 2009 completely and mailed my entry on the very last day which is today! The flu has definitely messed my head but luckily I'm getting better. If you want to join the club you have to hurry up and send your entry today! Thank you Edgar for hosting the club! :)

What is it going to be?

This is what I have been making for a while. I won't tell just yet what it's going to be. :)

This post is going to be short since I'm aching all over, caught the flu I guess. :(

A birthday card

My friend just turned 30 and I made her this card. The idea was that even though we are not little princesses anymore there should be some pink in our lives. :) The text on the card says Happy Bithday in finnish.

Yarns from Tallinn

As I told you earlier I went to Tallinn last weekend. I found the most important thing, the wedding dress and also some beautiful yarns. I won't show you what my wedding dress looks like but the colours of it are burgundi and sand and it's from Tomy Mariage. :)

Odessa yarns are from Schoeller Stahl and they are 51% wool, 49%acrylic
Hela and Capri yarns are from BCT (made in Slovakia) and they are 100% cotton.

And the winner is...

It is quite late already but I asked my husband to draw the winner from my red hat. And the winner is...drums.... queenoftheclick! Congratulations!

I will send the surprise next week and as soon as she has received I'll post a picture.

A birthday present from Michiko!

My friend Michiko raked me today on my birthday. I was so surprised this morning when I opened my email and found a HAED email telling me that The Passing by Linda Tso is waiting for me to go and download it. Thank you so much Michiko! It was a really great birthday surprise! This is a very beautiful chart don't you think?

HAED has a Birthday Club you can puchase with 10$ and on your birthday you can choose any chart from their website. I chose Crown of Creation by Sara Butcher. The colours are great.

I got PIF-mail!

Yesterday I got mail from Mustikka. She had PIF on her blog and I signed in. She sent me Christmas card and this lovely moose ornament! She wrote that se just couldn't until Cristmas to post it. :) I think the design is from Barbara Ana Design. It is so cute! Thank you Mustikka!

BTW there is still room in my PIF, here's the link to the post on my Finnish blog.

Fabric dyes and knitting yarns

As soon as I posted about the Tallinn trip I had some errands to run in town and of course I couldn't resist going to one or two crafts shops... :) I bought some fabric dyes and knitting yarn. I have no idea what I am going to knit from this yarn, its called Karuselli (carousel) and its 100% acrylic. It has just so beautiful autumn colour.

I have decided to try dyeing some of my own stitching fabrics and bought brown, green and red pigments and I don't know what this emulsion is called in english but you mix the pigment to the emulsion and spray it on the fabric. I also bought two tote bags so I can practise first before I ruin my stitching fabric. :D

Trip to Tallinn

I am going to Tallinn, Estonia this weekend to celebrate my upcoming 30th birthday! I hope I find something nice there like knitting yarns, x-stitch materials and so on. :) The one most important thing I hope to find is a wedding dress since we only had a small ceremony last February and we are having an actual wedding on Feb 09. My sister and her husband and my brother with his fiancée are coming with us so I have at least two good judges with me. I hope I find just what I like (combination of white and red, there has to be red since I LOVE red!).

This also means that I won't have time to stitch, knit, sew or so anything but I will take some photos of the city and post what I bought when I come back. :)

Remember the Giveaway! Comment to my earlier post and you'll be in.
